Furka – Primitiv Plastik

Lucas Wohlhauser –  found objects and stuff, elements

All music composed by Lucas Wohlhauser.

Furka is a collection of 16 tracks recorded at the Furka Pass (2,429m) during the summer of 2022. This work is a sonic experiment deeply inspired by, and emerging from, the place itself.

This project first took the shape of a game — like the ones I used to play as a child, creating tiny worlds out of a few found objects. I would bring all kinds of characters and creatures to life, guiding them through imagined landscapes.

On the Furka pass, I let my imagination run free — armed with my Zoom recorder and a pair of drumsticks — to shape these 16 pieces: entire worlds, stories, and scenes.

Blending sound design, science fiction, and false field recordings, this album is a wondrous journey that takes us to the outer edges of the imagination. A sonic immersion that, in the end, feels strikingly visual.

A huge thanks to Erika Hiltbrunner for leading the research at ALPFOR and for allowing me to use some underground root scans for my covers.
